Chartwells contract affects future students [edit]

Washburn and Chartwells signed a new 10-year contract that will last through the 2025 school year.

In the past, students have been displeased with Chartwells.  Not only are they dissatisfied with the lack of selection and high prices in the union, Chartwells’ contract limits private catering companies from catering events on Washburn’s campus.

In addition, students are frustrated with the meal plan options. While leaving in the Living Learning Center, the highest meal plan allows enough money to eat two and a half meals every day in order to zero out their balance at the end of the semester. If not, students will have extra money that will go to waste because the money does not carry over after the second semester.

With having to eat multiple meals in the union every day, students are tired of the food selection. There are not enough healthy food options and of the options offered, they become tiring day after day.

Students are frustrated with the contract renewal and hope Chartwells can make changes with the students in mind.

  1. Nice edit. In the third paragraph, change leaving to living. Otherwise, very straight forward and of importance to students.

  2. I thought this was a very strong and straight forward edit. I like that you took out the opinion part of the article and made it accredited to the general Washburn student body. The only mistake I saw was "leaving" as well.

  3. I like that you changed the headline. The original, was miswritten. Great edit

  4. Very nice edits, this flows much, much better than the first post. As the other ladies said, leaving should be living.

  8. Good edit, the story seems short. I would add some more text about different meal plans.

  12. Nice edit! I think you meant "living" in this phrase though: "While leaving in..."
